Spiral Trash Can

Notable Features

Story

This piece results from a meeting with origami expert Madonna Yoder, who introduced me to the Moorish Fretwork pattern. Patented in the 1880s by Ohio craftsman Moses Ransom, Moorish Fretwork plays off the remarkable fact that spirals, when spaced at certain intervals, seamlessly interlock.

I was immediately enchanted and knew something would have to be designed to exploit this quirk of geometry. When a friend told me she was obsessed with trash cans, the piece practically designed itself.
