The Cypress Lamp (or, Chasing the Light) belongs on a cherished corner table. As its name suggests, the limbs of the base are inspired by the branching of a Mediterranean cypress tree. The base's dramatic effects are contained, however, resolving peacefully by the time its limbs reach the lampshade.
 
A juried exhibit selection at the New Britain Museum of American Art, the lamp straddles the line between fine art and high technology.
